MP visits a Winter Wonderland
11/11/2013
Arundel and South Downs MP Nick Herbert visited a Winter Wonderland in Storrington on Saturday (9 November).
The Winter Wonderland is the first seasonal food and crafts market organised by the Friends of Storrington First School (FOSS) and was held in the grounds of the school. The MP visited the stalls and met young skaters who were enjoying an artificial ice-rink, which was an especially popular attraction.
All proceeds from the day will go to FOSS who will be using the money to buy educational equipment, support the maintenance of the swimming pool and fund further school and community events over the coming year. The Winter Wonderland event was sponsored by More Than Insurance.
Sharon Woolnaugh of Cottage Crafts, a consortium of four local mums who hand-make Christmas gifts said: "It's great to be here and to be able to share with the community some of the fantastic gifts we have created. We have had really positive feedback."
Nick Herbert said: "I arrived at the Wonderland on Saturday in torrential rain, but the stallholders weren't deterred, and I hope that they had a successful market with the better weather on Sunday.
"Even in the rain the ice-rink was incredibly popular with children. The Wonderland was a great initiative by the Friends of Storrington First School, and I hope that it was a successful fundraiser for them."
The next Christmas event in Storrington will be the Christmas Fayre on Friday 6 December.
