MP meets award winning garden designer

Arundel & South Downs MP Nick Herbert visited Birchfield Nursery near Henfield on Saturday (23 November) and met leading landscape and garden designer Jack Dunckley.

Jack is a multi award-winning landscape designer from Hurstpierpoint in West Sussex.  At 20 years old, he is the youngest garden designer to have exhibited at the prestigious Chelsea Flower show, where he won a Silver-Gilt Medal this year for his Garden 'Juxtaposition'.

The MP was shown around the nursery by Jack and visited their Christmas Fayre, a new venture this year, and coffee shop where he chatted with Jack's parents, Rob and Madeline.

Birchfield Nursery supplies high quality plants to both wholesale and retail customers, with over 500,000 plants in stock in more than 3,500 different varieties.

Jack also runs a landscape design business and has already won prestigious contracts to create new gardens.

Nick Herbert said: "It was a pleasure to visit the Nursery and meet Jack, whose passion for plants, combined with creativity and entrepreneurial flair, shines through.  I hope that he succeeds in his dream to become the youngest prize winner at the Chelsea Flower Show."

Jack Dunckley said: "It was brilliant to meet Nick at my Christmas Fayre on Saturday.  The aim of the Fayre was to bring together the local community at this very festive time of year and we were lucky to have over 300 hundred visitors throughout the day."
