MP meets Wisborough Green pupils at the Houses of Parliament
Arundel & South Downs MP Nick Herbert met children from Wisborough Green Primary School during their visit to the Houses of Parliament (10 June).
Mr Herbert met the group of 8 pupils during their ‘People’s Parliament’ tour and workshop. The children had the opportunity to ask the MP questions and hear about his work in the House of Commons.
The People’s Parliament workshop took place in the Discovery Centre, a dedicated exhibition in the Education Centre in the Palace of Westminster. The children experienced an immersive 360-degree projection of historic events from Parliament’s past.
The children posed for photos with their MP in front of a backdrop of the famous green benches of the House of Commons. In the actual Chamber only Members of Parliament are allowed to sit on the benches, except for the Youth Parliament when they sit by invitation once a year.
Mr Herbert said: “It was a pleasure to welcome the children from Wisborough Green Primary School to Westminster and to hear what they had learned from their visit. I was delighted to answer their questions, and I hope they continue to take an interest in history and politics.”
