Nick visits Petworth ploughing match
Arundel & South Downs MP Nick Herbert visited the Petworth & District Agricultural Association’s annual ploughing match on Saturday (28 September).
Lee Farm in Fittleworth hosted this year’s match in which 50 ploughmen competed for awards.
Lee Dallyn, who runs Lee Farm, tweeted afterwards: “Many thanks to Nick Herbert for joining us at the Petworth Agricultural Association annual meeting and ploughing match on Saturday. Had a great chat and managed to avoid the Brexit word.”
Mr Herbert said: “I really enjoyed my visit to the ploughing match and it was fun seeing the variety of tractors, especially the old ‘Fergies’ like the one we used to have at home. It was good to see traditional agricultural skills being kept alive, and the strength of local support for this rural event.”
