MP visits The Windmill Grocer

Arundel and South Downs MP Nick Herbert visited a newly opened grocery and delicatessen store The Windmill Grocer in Barnham on Friday (12 April).

Craig Ramus opened his new village shop at Easter, and invited his MP to see the new store.  Craig has moved to his new venture from the award winning Kirdford Village Stores which he managed for two years.

The Windmill Grocer is located in the Windmill Shopping Village next to the Grade II listed windmill in Barnham.  The shop provides a wide selection of locally sourced products, supporting many of West Sussex's producers, as well as selling the day-to-day cupboard basics and newspapers.  Eggs come from Nutbourne, Plaistow and Middleton-on-Sea, and the milk is from Southview Farm Dairies in Bury.

A particular feature of the new shop is a cheese counter featuring a variety of English varieties from artisan producers.  Mr Herbert was treated to a tasting of a selection of cheeses before buying some himself.

Speaking after the visit Craig Ramus said: "It was great that Nick could come and see the new store in the shopping village.  It has been a turbulent time for the whole site in recent years due to the economic climate and other factors, but everything seems to be on the up now. There is renewed enthusiasm, a really nice buzz around the site and some great shops.  We look forward to welcoming new visitors. "

Nick Herbert said: "I wish Craig and his team every success with his new shop.  I met Craig when he was managing the Kirdford Village Stores and was impressed with everything that was achieved there.  I can see that he maintains the same passion in his new venture, and it is good to see that he is stocking locally sourced food."
