MP visits award winning village pub
02/07/2012
Arundel & South Downs MP Nick Herbert visited the Sportsman Inn pub in Amberley last Friday (29 June) after it received a Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) award.
The Sportsman Inn, located in Rackham Road, was chosen by CAMRA as the pub of the year for Arun and Adur.
CAMRA is an independent, voluntary organisation campaigning for real ale, community pubs and consumer rights.
Pubs throughout the area were judged on beer quality, the standard of service and the atmosphere in the pub.
This award is the forth CAMRA award received by the Sportsman Inn over the past four years.
Teri Figg, manager and proprietor of the Sportsman Inn, said "We are very honoured to have been chosen to receive an award from CAMRA for the fourth year running.
"It was delightful to have our local MP Nick Herbert visit us, and we were all very impressed that he was so aware of the issues faced by village pubs".
Following his visit, Mr Herbert commented "I was delighted to hear that the Sportsman Inn had been recognised by CAMRA with this award.
"The location of the pub offers visitors spectacular views to enjoy well kept real ale and good food.
"I thoroughly enjoyed visiting the Sportsman and experiencing the warm welcome which is given to all visitors. I could immediately see why they have won a CAMRA award once again."
