MP supports Garden Centre coffee morning for local hospice
16/04/2012
Arundel & South Downs MP Nick Herbert visited South Downs Nurseries and Garden Centre last Friday (13 April) to take part in a special fundraising coffee morning in aid of St Peter & St James Hospice.
South Downs Nurseries and Garden Centre is located in Hassocks and specialises in growing unusual, hard to find, plants and heritage plants that are Sussex 'born and bred'.
The coffee morning, which took place in the Centre's Olive Tree Café, was held to raise funds for St Peter & St James Hospice in East Sussex.
The Hospice provides services in a wide catchment area which includes the villages of Hurstpierpoint, and Hassocks in the Arundel & South Downs constituency.
Most of the Hospice's revenue is derived from fundraising, which means they have to raise over £5,000 every day to keep providing their vital services to the community.
Following the visit, Mr Herbert commented: "I was delighted to support St Peter & St James Hospice and the marvellous service they provide for their patients and families."
"It was a pleasure to visit the South Downs Nurseries and Garden Centre and see so many people turn out to support this very worthwhile cause."
South Downs Nurseries and Garden Centre Branch Manager Mark Hillyard comented "Due to the generosity of our customers, we managed to raise £350 for St Peter & St James Hospice, and I would like to sincerely thank Nick Herbert for his continued support."
