MP joins Storrington motor enthusiasts at fundraising event

Arundel & South Downs MP Nick Herbert joined members of Storrington and District Classic and Sportscar Enthusiasts, known affectionately as SADCASE, at their annual fundraising event last month.

The Club, which was founded two years ago, boasts over 260 members who live or work in Storrington and the surrounding areas of West Sussex.  Members meet monthly for informal get-togethers and fundraise every month for local charities.

This year the Club's annual fundraising event, entitled The Pit Stop Party, was held at the Hilton's Avisford Park Hotel near Arundel and attracted over 100 guests who attended in 1960s fancy dress.

The guests were also treated to talk by an executive in the Sahara Force India Formula One team about how safety had improved in the sport.

The event raised £320 which was split equally between two charities, St. Barnabas House Hospice and The Mary How Trust.

Speaking following the fundraising event, Club founder Martin Pester said: "The Pit Stop Party is now firmly established as a club must and this year over 100 members were entertained for the evening.  Nick Herbert joined in the fun and like all the guests had a good evening."

Mr Herbert, who is a patron of both The Mary How Trust and St Barnabas, had the privilege of presenting the Sadcase of the Year Award to club member Meredith Hutchins for all the hard work she does for the Club.

Nick Herbert commented: "I had a great evening with SADCASE and we raised some money for two local charities which are close to everyone's heart.

"The Club's parade of vintage cars at the Storrington village show was a highlight last year, and I hope that we will be able to see them again."
