Arundel & South Downs MP Nick Herbert has chosen a painting by a pupil at Steyning Grammar School to feature on his Christmas card this year.

Each year the MP invites a constituency school to take part in a competition to design his card with a scene from the South Downs.  His card is posted and emailed to thousands of people in the constituency and elsewhere.

Mr Herbert visited the school at the beginning of December to choose his favourite picture from a selection presented.  Pupils from across all of the year groups took part and produced Christmas scenes in a variety of styles.

The winning painting by Tom Carey of Partridge Green, in year 13 at the school, has now been printed on the MP’s Christmas cards, and will also be sent as an e-card.  The painting is of Knepp Castle in winter.

Nick Herbert said: "I was delighted that the pupils at Steyning Grammar School agreed to help me this year.  They produced a lovely selection for me to choose from, but it was Tom’s painting that really caught my eye."
