The MP took part in the official opening ceremony alongside Councillor Peter Griffiths, West Sussex County Councillor for Hurstpierpoint & Bolney.  They were joined by a number of visitors and staff who had gathered at the centre in Mill Lane for the afternoon celebrations.

The Millstone Day Centre was established in 2000 and works with customers who have learning difficulties, autism and mental health issues.  The day centre facilities help to support independent living through a range of activities that develop skills and encourage both self-esteem and confidence.

A growth in customer numbers meant that the day centre needed to move to a bigger building so that they could provide more activities and sessions.  Mr Herbert and Mr Griffiths were given a tour of the new facilities that now include a sensory room, IT suite and spacious kitchen area.

The new Millstone Day Centre building is also the headquarters for Independent Lifestyles, the company who run the day centre.   The company provides homecare, supported tenancy and residential care for adults with complex needs.

Nick Herbert said: "I was delighted to open the Millstone day centre’s new building.   I was made to feel very welcome and enjoyed meeting the team, customers and visitors."
