Nick Herbert expresses frustration at lack of progress on bypass
Commenting on the Regional Transport Board’s confirmation of its priorities for transport in the South East between 2011 and 2016, including the scheme for an Arundel bypass, Arundel & South Downs MP Nick Herbert, said:
"It's all very well that improvements to the A27 at Chichester and the A24 between Ashington and Southwater could begin in five to ten years' time, and that the Arundel bypass could be considered for an early start in a decade's time, but that's a long wait. What about the hospital situation? What about the increase in housing numbers? What about the environmental damage to the Downs and villages caused by rat-running?
"I don't see the point of upgrading the A27 at Chichester if the bottleneck at Arundel remains. The bypass really must be brought forward."
