Proposed Policing Commission
Labour had 13 years to establish a Commission. This review shows that Labour are bereft of ideas and exposes the vacuum at the heart of their criminal justice policy.
Yvette Cooper has opposed every necessary reform of the police and even cynically postures against the spending reductions and pay reforms which her predecessors had acknowledged would need to be made. Now she wants to kick police reform into the long grass of a Labour commission.
As HM Inspector of Constabulary and the former head of the Police Federation have acknowledged, we cannot put policing on hold for years in this way.
Labour's pathetic policy for the police now consists of opposition to cuts and a review, whilst the Coalition is driving forward with a serious and coherent programme of reform.
